the devs i'm in contact with are reviewing the script and current assets to see if they want to take on the project, but that was back in February. I believe they're currently working on their own project at the moment so i'm waiting to contact them again to see if theyve reached a decision. i tried to ask for an update in march but didn't receive a reply so i'm assuming theyre quite busy right now. kind of hard to decide what to do because i want to see what they say before anything. not really sure what to do otherwise, unfortunately. i don't want to give too much hope that they'll take it on, because it's all up in the air right now. this is kind of where everything stands at the moment.

The lead of the game has been trying to contact developers to take on the project, but the ones they are in contact with right now haven't gotten back to them since February. I am honestly quite upset, since people have supported this games development through Kickstarter and have donated $8,184 (main funding goal was $2,000) and I am unsure if anyone has ever received their Kickstarter rewards.
Plus, the fact that we have given money in support of the side game, which was supposedly going towards the main game's development.
This is what I hate about indie VN developers. Stop trying to start a gaming business when you're still in the middle of university or have work commitment where you'll be treating indie game dev as nothing more than a side project. The fact that Parival listed themselves as a legit small business and even accepted funding for their game's development, is no excuse to shirk responsibilities and then cry about being busy with university and work.
Why start a company then? I see this happen with so many new indie VN popping up and it's fine if it's a free game and they're not a registered business, but the moment you start demanding funds and register yourself as a business, you are then creating and selling a product.
Building and maintaining a business is no small feat and should not be taken lightly. I seriously wish more people can understand this, before diving in and starting an LLC and selling products. Especially when money has been given to Parival and since it's done through Kickstarter, everyone has virtually signed an agreement understanding that projects might not meet the goal and refund is impossible if that were the case. (I am unsure how it works if the goal has been met but the company decides to run off with the money). This creates a liability issue and of course, I truly wish in cases such as these legal matters can be brought in to resolve the issue and people can get refunded.
It's devastating to see a project drop dead and I had such high hopes for this game, since there's not that many dark BL games out there that are Western and I loved how we got a protagonist that is morally grey. The voice actors have done a fantastic job in bringing these characters to life and the gameplay mechanics and story premise was truly refreshing to see.
Any "discord" news I am taking with a grain of salt, since Parival should have been communicating openly on public profiles such as this page for updates/news. I don't understand why they'd make update/news on a private server such as discord. Especially if ownership has been given to someone new and development is being resumed. Why not share that publicly on here? It's been years now, so I am assuming that development has ceased long ago and that the so-called "discord" news is false.
It's because of these scammers that I completely avoid any "support for ongoing / beta / early access"; HATE them so much for scamming people who love and supported them, such betrayal of trust! -Hereby deleting this from my ongoing game list, RIP-

i too am very unsure, since the creator has deleted their patreon, which might indicate ending any and all development. HOWEVER, arguably development ended in 2021, rather than 2020 as you stated, due to the summer game being released. it is a shame bout the lack of release anyway.

The side game you paid for was the only thing they planned on releasing from the start. 1st degree murder was a promise created to hook unsuspecting and impatient players who would pay for their short side game as they waited for the full release of the actual game they wanted to play. You are one of them.

i've heard that the new expected release date is in 2024. i suppose we'll wait and see if they deliver this time. i've been halfway following the development of this game for three or so years now. i haven't really got any emotional or financial investment, since i didn't pay for it... but i still thought it would be cool. the demo impressed me at the time. i miss this game. i hope something comes of it.

oh please. Every single game developer on sites like this do the same song and dance. When people have paid, and backed project, you dont get to say "my brain feels funny" and shut down a project. People like you want zero accountability and THATS the biggest problem with developers like this. If youre a mentally unstable person, or just unstable in life, you dont kickstart, and fully fund a project, then disappear for a long time. Grow up.

I agree with you on most things. But thing is, the situation is so bad, that it feels like no matter what backers say, we are trapped in this dead space. So when non-backers voice criticism (even when slightly mean), I feel some comfort in it, cause otherwise, it feels like nothing will ever change.
No matter how we look at that, it's still a virtual space, and there is not much we can do. I wanna be more empathetic, I wanna be nicer, but after 3 years, it's hard to believe in things dev team says, to be 100% honest with you. Not because I have some malicious thoughts for dev team ofc. Again nothing like that at all. But because, there was no communication in here, no communication on Kickstarter. Nothing at all.
+At this point, I don't believe that money will be given back, not even because of 3 years, but all due to dev team's attitude towards it's supporters. And when people feel that nothing will change, they are salty and angry obviously.
3 years and 0 communication here. Patreon deleted. The small updates on discord mean nothing, since they hold no weight. Deleting accounts on discord is very easy, and then can be bam, "what game, what creator? never heard of them". It's just more time passes, the less likely anything at all will happen, that's just how unfortunate it is.
I am against being disrespectfull to dev team myself, but again I don't think we should just "chill out".

But we both should be able to agree on that there is a difference between 1) very validly so like you voicing your criticism, disappointment in the intransparent communication and calling them out for breaking our and esp. y'all backers trust; or 2) more or less simply shitting on the dev team and talking about how you don't care about the very serious and heartbreaking shit that has been going on bts and belittling their situation by being extremely disrespectful "my brain feels funny" or "mentally unstable person", even though some person (the one i mentioned in my comment) in this comment section literally explained what happened behind the scenes with one person in the dev team, and other things that happened with deaths of parents and such. And that the game is still worked on (again here 100% agree that this belongs on this site here as an update!!!).
So my comment was never: "oh how can you not support the devs or this game anymore. how can you lose hope and trust." Bc that part is very understandably not there anymore for A LOT of ppl. Backers or not. My comment is about basically not being a disrespectful asshole. Especially if you didn't even back up the game. And I do stand by that comment.
Alright, I understand better what you mean this way, since again I myself had much less of an idea of what's happening because of the bad communication. No disrespect to the death and struggles of anyone at all off. I understand very well how bad life can get, and I hope the dev team are fine.
I agree with you on most things. But thing is, the situation is so bad, that it feels like no matter what backers say, we are trapped in this dead space. So when non-backers voice criticism (even when slightly mean), I feel some comfort in it, cause otherwise, it feels like nothing will ever change.
No matter how we look at that, it's still a virtual space, and there is not much we can do. I wanna be more empathetic, I wanna be nicer, but after 3 years, it's hard to believe in things dev team says, to be 100% honest with you. Not because I have some malicious thoughts for dev team ofc. Again nothing like that at all. But because, there was no communication in here, no communication on Kickstarter. Nothing at all.
+At this point, I don't believe that money will be given back, not even because of 3 years, but all due to dev team's attitude towards it's supporters. And when people feel that nothing will change, they are salty and angry obviously.
3 years and 0 communication here. Patreon deleted. The small updates on discord mean nothing, since they hold no weight. Deleting accounts on discord is very easy, and then can be bam, "what game, what creator? never heard of them". It's just more time passes, the less likely anything at all will happen, that's just how unfortunate it is.
I am against being disrespectfull to dev team myself, but again I don't think we should just "chill out".
